Screen Printing & UV Decoration
Heritage
Screen Printing
Screen printing is a traditional decoration technique that transfers designs onto a chosen material using a finely woven mesh screen. It is a highly versatile process that has been used for centuries across a wide range of substrates.
The family behind Festival Glass has a long-standing heritage in screen printing, with extensive experience across many materials and a particular specialism in glass decoration. Traditionally, Festival Glass used ceramic-based inks to decorate glassware. This process involves applying the design before firing the glass at high temperatures, permanently bonding the decoration to the surface.
While ceramic screen printing remains part of our production capabilities and can be used where required, the firing process results in the glass becoming untoughened. As industry requirements have evolved, this has become a significant consideration for many customers.
Investment in the future
Meeting Modern Industry Requirements
Over the past decade, breweries, beer festivals, hospitality groups, and event organisers have increasingly required toughened glassware due to licensing standards, safety requirements, and operational preferences.
To meet this growing demand, Festival Glass has continually invested in new technologies and production methods that allow us to deliver decorated glassware that is toughened, durable, compliant, and visually exceptional.
Modern process
UV Decoration
Since 2019, Festival Glass invested in three state-of-the-art UV decoration production lines, significantly expanding our capabilities in decorating toughened glassware.
UV decoration is a modern printing process that eliminates the need for high-temperature firing. Instead, specially formulated paints are instantly cured using powerful UV lamps, creating a durable finish while maintaining the strength and integrity of the toughened glass.
High performance
Why We Use UV Decoration
Through extensive testing and comparative evaluation against alternative decoration methods, UV-cured printing has consistently demonstrated excellent performance across a range of key technical areas, including:
- Improved production efficiency
- Exceptional print quality and detail
- A wider and more consistent colour range
- Strong adhesion performance under thermal and mechanical stress
- Compatibility with toughened glassware
- Reduced energy consumption compared with traditional firing methods
- More environmentally friendly production processes
Continuouse innovation
